Denver Mining Club Tour of the Colorado Rose Red Granite Quarry, Lyons, CO.

On Monday, Aug 11, we’ll meet at 11:00 a.m. at the Colorado Rose Red Granite Quarry, 184 Cheyenne Court, Lyons; tour will start at 11:15 a.m. Travel in your own vehicle or carpool (2-wheel drive is fine).  Bring water and shoes appropriate for walking on dirt roads.  Dress for the weather.  Cost: No charge.  From Lyons, take US 36 toward Estes Park.  About 8 miles from Lyons, turn right on Klova Rd. and immediately right on Button Rock Road (which parallels US 36) back toward Lyons.  If you see the Colorado Cherry Company on the right, you’ve gone too far.  Button Rock Road goes left, turning into Cheyenne Ct/Cheyenne Quarry Rd/Cheyenne Quarry Road.  Follow the road to the Quarry.  Gary Kay, owner of the Quarry, will be our tour guide. Afterwards, we’ll go to the Colorado Cherry Company for lunch; bring your own or purchase pot pies, chili, and cherry pies there.
